When you think of Atlanta as a birthplace, Coca-Cola certainly comes to mind as a knee-jerk response, but the capital of Georgia has birthed a few other famous celebrities in the past 60 years: David Cross, Julia Roberts, Spike Lee, and Stephen Soderbergh. Of course, there are also the sports teams, for which we have plenty of Falcons tickets and Hawks tickets to go around. But in addition to all of this, Atlanta also boasts a formidable music scene. Arguably, the most successful band to emerge from the Atlanta suburbs is Manchester Orchestra, the indie rock outfit.
This Wednesday, November 21st, marks the band's anxiously-awaited return to their hometown, when they play the Center Stage Theatre that night. As they finish their eighth year together, the band can look back and claim three studio albums and a handful of EPs. Last year Manchester Orchestra released Simple Math, its most critically acclaimed LP yet. So longtime fans can expect that album to dominate Wednesday's setlist, along with older favorites like "I Can Feel A Hot One," "I've Got Friends," and "Shake It Out."
