Some may think it is a bit early, but now is the perfect time to start planning your trip down to Orlando, FL to check out Braves spring training. This year, spring training starts for the Atlanta Braves on March 4th, 2015 and runs through April 4th, 2015. Opening day at Turner Field is shortly after, on April 10th.
Purchase Your Tickets in Advance
If you’re headed to Braves spring training, you’ll need your tickets first. Depending on who the Braves are playing that day, many games tend to sell out. So make sure to purchase your Braves spring training tickets ahead of time, especially if you want to see a popular team such as the Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees.
Buying your Braves tickets ahead of time will also help you avoid long lines of fans purchasing tickets close to game time.
Book a Hotel
Unless you’re from Orlando, you’ll need a place to stay. Since the Braves’ spring training venue is Champion Stadium, you’re in luck. Champion Stadium is located at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, inside of the Walt Disney World Resort.
While there are many hotels sponsored by Disney, there are also plenty of other hotels that won’t put a hole in your wallet.
These hotels are within a few miles of the stadium and have great reviews:
- Radisson Resort Orlando Celebration: 2900 Parkway Boulevard, Kissimmee, FL
- Bohemian Hotel, Celebration: 700 Bloom Street, Celebration, FL
- Vacation Village: 2949 Arabian Nights Blvd, Kissimmee, FL
- Parkway International Resort: 6200 Safari Trail, Kissimmee, FL
Pack the Essentials
The sun can be brutal in Florida during March and April. Be sure you bring spring/summer clothing, along with hats and sunglasses. Don’t forget the sunscreen: sunburns can ruin the rest of your trip.
Also remember your walking shoes. Walking around Disney can be tiring, and you don’t want any blisters.
p.s. If you have anything you may want to get autographed, bring that along too. Spring training presents a great opportunity to players and possibly get an autograph or two.
Plan Other Activities Around Braves Spring Training
Attending a Braves spring training game at Champion Stadium can be pretty cost effective but other activities around the complex can be quite expensive. Many will want to visit Walt Disney World or Universal Studios while in the area.
There is also a lot of great shopping around the complex. It’s important to budget your trip so spending doesn’t get out of hand. Plan your trip and costs beforehand, and don’t break the bank unexpectedly!
Ultimately, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself. Spring training is a great experience, and a perfect opportunity to see your favorite players in a more intimate venue. Don’t get left behind, start planning your trip to Champion Stadium today!
